MAMA
-
Extended stay, about three months.
-
Prepare nesting box for her to deliver in quiet, calm location.
-
Monitor her eating, bathrooms, and breathing.
-
Give lots of love and pets.
-
Check in with her during labor and delivery, most mamas need no assistance.
-
Some queens might have difficulty delivering, get with sponsor on how to proceed or call vet office.
-
Keep an eye on healing and health of mama and babies.
-
Enjoy watching them grow big and learn new things!
-
Patience, love, and compassion are key!
-
No free feeding, have them eat at set times with you right there; this allows them to associate humans with positive feelings
-
Introduce light petting during eating sessions.
-
Consistency is a must in socializing them quick.
-
Caging them in large cages or in bathrooms will prevent them from running and hiding when you are near.
-
This is a process, celebrate the small wins!
Feral kitty
Orphaned Tiny baby
-
Have a heating pad or heating blanket on hand. Small kittens can't regulate their body temperature.
-
Depending on age, this could require bottle feeding every two to three hours.
-
Before and after feeding, be sure to stimulate the kitten's genitals as baby kittens cannot go to the restroom by themselves.
-
Allow time for them to sleep. They are doing a lot of growing.
-
Monitor their health and begin litterbox training around three weeks old!
-
Check with sponsor or vet on specific quarantining rules for your cat's unique health situation.
-
This cat or kitten could be ill, injured, or unvaccinated.
-
Do not allow other animals nearby.
-
Have quarantined cat in a room by themselves with plenty of food, water, toys, and bedding.
-
Administer care as directed by vet.
-
Stays could be extended depending on situation.
-
Here's to a healthy, happy kitty!
