First-time Cat Owner
Here's to get you started!

FIRST THINGS FIRST
You gotta get supplies! You can check out our recommended products but purchasing food, bowls, litterbox, litter, and toys are a must. You'll also want to consider getting a scratching post or two and a cozy bed for your kitty to snooze in.

While cats do groom themselves, it never hurts to purchase a brush to groom your cat. Don't forget to throw in a set of nail clippers!
Health is key
All kitties deserve to live their best, healthy life! So it's up to you to make sure they are getting proper nutrition, hydration, exercise, and routine veterinary care. Be sure to take your feline to the vet for vaccines (unless they have already received them) and monitor their health over the next few days. If they have not been spayed or neutered, please be sure to get that set up!
New environments can cause stress to some cats which can lead to tummy issues and more. Be sure to occasionally alternate between dry and wet food, as this helps with hydration. And be sure to spend time playing for exercise!

Plenty Of lovins'
Cats are great companions and they love their humans very much. While each have different personalities, it is important to give your cat the affection it prefers. Spend time with them! Play with them!

If you have a single cat who is always energetic or stays alone most of the day, getting a second cat is a great idea! This gives them a playmate throughout the day and prevents them from being lonely. Take note, some cats are perfectly fine being by themselves. Get to know your cat first before bringing in another.
Keep an eye on 'em
You gotta feed 'em, keep 'em healthy, and give 'em plenty of pets and love. But you also need to be on the look out for changes in behavior as this could indicate health concerns.

Changes in bathroom habit, excessive meowing or yowling, vomiting, eating habits, weight fluctuations, and sleep patterns could be signs of serious concern. Always consult with your vet if you notice anything abnormal for your cat.

How old are they?
Do you have a sweet kitty baby but not quite sure how old they are? Definitely not a newborn kitten but definitely not an adult? It can be challenging to accurately assess how old your cat is, especially if you were not around when they were born or if you found them.

Luckily, we can tell the age of kittens by their teeth! Check this out to see how old your kitten is. This will tell you when it's safe for them to have certain vaccines. And when you can start planning their first birthday party!
